Shopify & Web Developer for Anime Jewelry Brand

Remote
Full Time
Experienced

We’re hiring a Shopify Developer to help us build, improve, and maintain the Shopify store for a growing anime-inspired jewelry and accessories brand.

This is a fully remote role with flexible hours and long-term, consistent work available for the right person. Excellent performance, strong communication, and real ownership will be rewarded with consistent work, pay raises, and bonuses.

We’re not for everyone. If you’re looking for a quick one-off task, only know how to install apps, or need to be told every small step, please do not apply. But if you’re a strong Shopify developer who can take designs, business needs, and store problems, then turn them into clean, functional, conversion-focused solutions, this could be a great long-term role for you.

Please start your cover letter and your answer to the first question with the word liquid so we know you read this carefully.

About the Job

We’re looking for a Shopify Developer who can take ownership of Shopify development work across our store. You’ll work on theme customization, landing pages, product pages, custom sections, store speed, UX improvements, app setup, app troubleshooting, and Shopify integrations.

The ideal person is strong with Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Shopify Online Store 2.0, metafields, JSON templates, and responsive development. You should be able to convert Figma or Adobe XD designs into clean, accurate, mobile-first Shopify pages. You should also be comfortable debugging theme issues, fixing app conflicts, improving performance, and suggesting better technical solutions when needed.

We want someone who understands that Shopify development is not just about making a page “work.” It’s about making the store faster, cleaner, easier to use, easier to manage, and better at converting visitors into customers.

What will you do?

  • Build, customize, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Shopify Online Store 2.0.
  • Create custom Shopify sections, templates, product pages, landing pages, and reusable theme components.
  • Convert Figma or Adobe XD designs into pixel-accurate, responsive, mobile-first Shopify pages.
  • Work with metafields, JSON templates, Shopify objects, AJAX API, Storefront API, and Shopify admin settings.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize third-party Shopify apps.
  • Debug Shopify theme issues, app conflicts, front-end bugs, and layout problems.
  • Improve site speed, Core Web Vitals, image optimization, and overall store performance.
  • Help increase conversion rate through better UX, cleaner page structure, faster load times, and better product/store experiences.
  • Support integrations with marketing tools, analytics tools, email/SMS platforms, CRMs, ERPs, or other third-party systems when needed.
  • Use Git/GitHub to manage code properly and keep work organized.
  • Test your work across desktop, tablet, and mobile before handing it off.
  • Communicate clearly about progress, blockers, timelines, and technical recommendations.
  • Proactively suggest improvements instead of only waiting for exact instructions.

Must-have:

  • Strong experience developing and customizing Shopify stores.
  • Deep knowledge of Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive front-end development.
  • Experience with Shopify Online Store 2.0, JSON templates, custom sections, and metafields.
  • Ability to convert Figma or Adobe XD designs into clean, accurate Shopify pages.
  • Experience debugging Shopify themes, app conflicts, and front-end issues.
  • Strong understanding of Shopify apps, theme architecture, and the Shopify admin.
  • Experience optimizing Shopify stores for speed, performance, and conversion.
  • Comfortable using Git/GitHub.
  • Ability to test your own work properly across devices and browsers.
  • Clear communication and ability to explain technical issues in simple terms.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and proactively suggest improvements.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Shopify Plus.
  • Experience with Shopify Functions, checkout customization, or custom app development.
  • Experience with GraphQL, REST APIs, Storefront API, or Admin API.
  • Experience building custom Shopify apps using Node.js, Python, Ruby, or similar backend technologies.
  • Experience with subscriptions, reviews, upsells, bundles, loyalty apps, or other e-commerce tools.
  • Experience migrating stores from WooCommerce, Magento, or other platforms to Shopify.
  • Experience with CRO, A/B testing, landing page optimization, or e-commerce funnel improvements.
  • Experience working with jewelry, fashion, accessories, anime, fandom, or lifestyle brands.

Who this is perfect for

  • This role is perfect for someone who loves Shopify, understands e-commerce, and wants long-term work with a brand that is actively growing.

  • You should enjoy solving problems, improving stores, cleaning up messy setups, building better user experiences, and helping a brand move faster without sacrificing quality.

  • You do not need to be an expert in anime, but you should be comfortable working with an anime-inspired brand and understand that our store needs to feel high-quality, stylish, and intentional, not cheap or generic.

Please do not apply if:

  • You only know how to install Shopify apps but cannot customize themes.
  • You cannot work with Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript confidently.
  • You need constant step-by-step instructions for every task.
  • You do not test your work before submitting it.
  • You disappear, miss deadlines, or communicate poorly.
  • You are looking for a quick one-off project instead of long-term work.
  • You cannot explain what you personally built in your past Shopify projects.
