Role Overview

We are hiring an AI Animator to lead the development and execution of hybrid animation workflows for our Australia-based, artist-led creative company expanding into anime production. This role will focus on building controlled AI-assisted pipelines that enhance animation quality, improve production efficiency, and support large-scale creative output while maintaining strong artistic consistency. It is best suited for a highly technical creator who is experienced with generative media tools, workflow optimization, and anime-inspired visual production.

About the Role

As our AI Animator, you will help bridge traditional animation techniques with modern AI-assisted production workflows. You will build and manage systems that support animation generation, visual consistency, motion refinement, and asset processing while collaborating closely with artists and animation leads to ensure outputs align with established visual standards.

This role is critical in helping the studio scale production efficiently without sacrificing artistic quality. Success in this position means building reliable AI pipelines, maintaining strong visual consistency across generated assets, improving animation workflows, and helping the creative team integrate new technologies into production in a practical and controlled way. What You’ll Do

  • Build, maintain, and improve AI-assisted workflows for animation, backgrounds, layouts, and visual effects
  • Train, fine-tune, and manage custom AI models and supporting tools for character and style consistency
  • Execute processes such as frame interpolation, upscaling, temporal smoothing, and rotoscoping
  • Collaborate closely with animation and art teams to ensure AI-generated content matches established style guides
  • Troubleshoot common AI generation issues, including flickering, distortions, and artifact cleanup
  • Research and evaluate new AI animation tools, workflows, and emerging technologies
  • Organize and document workflows using platforms such as ComfyUI, Automatic1111, or custom node systems
  • Translate storyboards and production requirements into structured AI-assisted animation workflows
  • Maintain organized tracking systems for prompts, model assets, and workflow documentation
  • Ensure AI-generated assets are production-ready for compositing and final delivery

Must-Haves

  • Strong portfolio or demo reel demonstrating high-quality AI-assisted animation workflows
  • Advanced proficiency with tools such as ComfyUI, Stable Diffusion, AnimateDiff, Automatic1111, EbSynth, or similar platforms
  • Experience working with LoRAs, ControlNet, IP-Adapter workflows, or custom AI model configurations
  • Strong understanding of digital video workflows, including frame rates, codecs, scaling, and compositing requirements
  • Strong technical problem-solving and workflow optimization skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain organized pipeline systems in a remote environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Availability to work at least 5 days per week

Nice-to-Haves

  • Background in traditional drawing, illustration, or 2D/3D animation
  • Experience with compositing or post-production software such as After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or Nuke
  • Python scripting experience for workflow automation or node-based integrations
  • Genuine interest in anime, manga, gaming, and internet-native creative culture
  • Familiarity with project management and tracking tools such as Notion or Miro
